Bug—adopted!

Photo: Bug the cat.Bug was rescued as a hungry kitten munching on insects in the middle of a country road. He’s a charming, clever guy who genuinely enjoys the company of other cats and dogs.

As a youngster, Bug was a patient at Iowa State’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital. At four months, he underwent surgery for bladder stones. He has had a recurrence and been diagnosed with a rare metabolic disorder that causes him to produce oxylate (rather than the more commonly occurring struvite) stones in his urinary tract.

Treatment includes a special diet designed to dissolve these stones, allowing them to pass through his system. Despite all this, Bug is an Olympic contender in leaping after feathers on a stick. He’s one of those active yet adorable cuddly cats who likes a lot of attention—when he asks for it.

Bug likes sleeping on his caregiver’s head. He’d probably be happy to sleep on your head, too.

DOB:  7/98—Male.

Bug likes:  cuddling, headbunting; cruising for food; using his paws as tools; wrestling with Odie.

He dislikes:  restraint.

Concern: Bug needs someone who will continue to provide his special diet and be alert to his urinary-tract health.
