Dean (like his buddy, Marcel) spent the winter of 2007-8 outside. His rescuer first saw him limping in the rain on the sidewalk in front of Sluggers in Coralville, as the leaves were falling. After some sleuthing, she discovered that he was living on the grounds of Quality Care and cruising for food at the Dumpster behind El Dorado and actually crossing the four-lane highway to visit the Dumpster behind Sluggers!

Upon his capture in May, his front left paw was hugely swollen from an interaction with someone who had really sharp teeth. After many rounds of different antibiotics, he still limps slightly but the infection is gone.

Dean (his nickname is QC for Quality Care) is a really affectionate cat who was well-socialized as a kitten.

He’s gone from a thin, feverish, whispy-coated tomcat to a muscular lap slug in three months.
