Flower
is enough of a kitten that her purrsonality, like her body, is still under construction.
Flower found her way to the Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption Center after sustaining a nerve-damage injury that left one of her front legs useless.
Since injuries like this sometimes resolve, we kept Flower at cage rest for a week, but the damage persisted and she still couldn’t use her leg.
Since kittens are so active, and nerve-less limbs are at such risk for injury due to infection from unnoticed cuts and abrasions, we knew that an amputation was probably in Flower’s future. Kittens recover and compensate more quickly than adult cats, so Flower’s leg was removed at the shoulder.
Two days after her surgery, Flower was racing
up and down the stairs! She can now out-run her fostercaregiver!
