Hank was a foot-sore traveler who had been hanging around the bus stop at the Oxford trailer park. He eagerly met the school bus twice a day and was so thin and worn out that a kind woman made sure he got a daily can of food after her kids got on the bus. Hank never seemed to gain any weight and as the weather become colder, his legs got stiffer and he began to limp. X-rays revealed a poorly-healed broken pelvis, probably the result of being hit by a car. We could tell Hank was in a fair amount of pain because he did not want his back or his hindquarters touched. A visit to a veterinary chiropracter gave him a better range of motion and helped smooth out his gait. But Hank still pays a lot of extra grooming attention to his stiff legs and feet. He sometimes over-grooms to the point of removing fur!

Hank wouldn’t mind being an only cat, but he does tolerate other cats and polite dogs pretty well. Don’t let his somber face fool you, Hank’s a great cat! He pretty much lives at the front desk of the Coralville Animal Clinic, greeting people as they come in and trying to sneak out the front door with them as they leave. |
