Hank Jr and his sister, Josie were born under a mobile home in North Liberty. Fortunately, the owner cared enough to call us for some ideas about and help with humane trapping. They’ve been handled enough that they are both well-socialized. They will be placed together.

Hank is very accommodating and likes to be touched. He has a shoe fetish, probably because he was socialized by people who live with other animals! Oddly enough, Hank really, really likes to be brushed, although he also likes to crew on the brush.

Both Hank and Josie are adept with wand toys and will play with them for longer than you can. “Playin’ machines” describe them well.

Hank and his sister spend a lot of time with Bartelby and Loki, another pair of siblings about the same age. They’ve pretty much raised one another, so they share many behavioral traits, especially in the play category. These four cats would make a dazzling addition to any home!

Live, Let Live, & LearnIf you happen to find young kittens (or other baby animals) without their mom, please think things through before you act. Bottle babies have very special needs (food, temperature, excretory, etc.) and require expert care. It’s easy to shift into “helping mode.” But momcats do kittencare best!

Unless you are sure mom isn’t coming back, be prepared to quietly observe for awhile. Human intervention is not always what’s best for the animal! To paraphrase Antoine de Sainte-Éxupéryyou become responsible for those you rescue.
