Iris—adopted!

Photo: Iris the cat.The caregiver who has been feeding Iris for the past three years was always worried about the hazy, protruding eyeball...especially since Iris produced a litter of kittens each year.

Iris was finally captured. Her eye appeared to be “dead,” and was removed. We exposed this gentle cat to many hands and all sorts of new experiences. Iris is a quick learner and her reactions led us to believe that she wasn’t quite as feral as she seemed...she’d been touched before, but it’d been awhile.

She loves to be hugged and petted, and always has a ready purr. Iris is tolerant of other cats, but does not care much for dogs.

For the longest time, Iris preferred to interact only from a high vantage point. After watching two litters of kittens learn to play, Iris now loves getting on the floor and turning found objects into toys. We continue to be in awe of this cat and all she has learned about becoming a housecat.

DOB:  7/99—Female.

Iris likes:  being picked up and petted; playing soccer and chasing after the Cat Charmer.

She dislikes:  loud noises and fast movements.

Concern:  Iris needs someone who will continue to introduce her to new situations.
