Jake and his brother, Joey, lost their home when their caregivers divorced and the house was sold.

The cats must have known something was up, but they had no idea their quiet lives would be uprooted, transitioning suddenly from a place in the country to living in a cage.

Getting used to being within sight and earshot of other cats was bad enough, but there were dogs, as well.

Jake is a sensitive, needy cat who takes things pretty seriously.

He was a one-person cat who didn't have much change in his life until he lost the person he was devoted to as well as his home. It was no surprise that he was depressed for weeks.

His feline social skills are improving. And he’s discovered that toys are fun, but sharing is an issue we’re working on. Jake needs a calm home where he can adore and be adored by one or two trustworthy people. He wants to be the only cat, but he could share with a very laid-back cat who didn’t have to prove dominance. He understands the concept of timeout.

It is likely that Jake was a mechanical engineer in a past life.

Perhaps not a very good one, but he really studies the way things work. And you can almost see the gears in his brain whirring away.

Jake is a string addict. He was lucky that after swallowing a narrow, 18" length of grosgrain ribbon, it came out the other end faded, but intact. We are very careful to put the wand toys away after playtime. Other string-like items to worry about would be gift ribbon, shoe laces, yarn, etc.

Jake likeschewing string; hugs from his new friends; analyzing what’s going on; Cat Dancer toy; playing with wand toys; set routines; hanging out in his big red cat house

He dislikes:having to spend time in his cage; sharing (in general); barking and other loud noises; chaos
