Maggie

Maggie was found pregnant and wandering loose (no collar, no tags) in a park near Lamont, Iowa.

She’s friendly, well-socialized, and eager to please. Maggie must have been somebody’s best friend, once upon a time. She’s got great people skills.

Maggie gave birth to eight puppies on April 22, 2007, but one died.

She was a devoted mom and did a wonderful job raising her puppies. Just watching her keep tabs on them tired us out!

DOB:  2005—Female.

Maggie likes:  being with humans; dinnertime; going outside; being with humans.

She dislikes:  not being with humans.

We think Maggie has some Boxer in her somewhere, along with some Beagle. From the look of her puppies, maybe the sire was part Rottie.

Maggie is very tactile and loves to be touched. She has a thoughtful calmness about her. She also seems very bright and catches on quickly.

Since JCHS is more cat-oriented, it was fun and enlightening to work with Maggie and her litter of puppies. She was a good teacher!

At first, we kept the puppies in a child’s swimming pool in Maggie’s kennel. That worked great until the pups became more coordinated and climbed out.

We came to the conclusion that dealing with seven puppies was a lot more work than seven kittens.

Check out each of her gorgeous puppies: Boomer, Bruno, Jed, Lefty, Magic, Righty, and Whitey.

It looks as though she may have gotten Jed and Whitey from a catalog!
