Marcel

DOB:  8/06

Male

Marcel spent the winter of 2007-8 outside, looking for garbage to eat and any shelter from the nasty weather he could find. Living rough took its toll on him. Fortunately he was rescued in early March by a veterinarin! What was an emaciated, bedraggled tomcat has become a handsome monsieur in formal wear. Here is Marcel’s story (in his own words, of course).

As you can see, I am all dressed up in my sleek black tux, white shirt, and spats. People tell me I am quite a handsome fellow. I see myself as a something of a boulvardier. I am certainly ready, in my tux, for any occasion—even the most formal—when you might need a cat!

You might think that because of my formal attire and sophisticated name that I am arrogant and vain—not true! I also answer to the name “Ducky.” I am about three years old, and somewhat shy when you first meet me. But I am very affectionate once you get to know me. And, I love to play.

I have not always been homeless, but ended up that way—I still haven’t figured out quite how that happened. I have good manners and keep myself very clean. I am fairly successful at controlling my shedding. I wandered around taking care of myself as best I could until I had the good luck to be caught and rescued by a veterinarian. He gave me my shots, neutered me, and now I have a clean bill of health.

I am waiting for a forever home. It might take me a little bit of time to get used to other cats and become accustomed to new surroundings. But I think that you would find me a wonderful, (not to mention very handsome) addition to your household!

While I’m waiting for a home, the Johnson County Humane Society has been kind enough to give me a place to stay. I have a couple of special people who are helping take care of me. You can come meet me by contacting one of my special people.

Call JB at 319/354-6080 during business hours to make arrangements for a visit. If it is after hours when you call and no one answers, please leave your name and phone number—she will get right back to you!
I hope to hear from you soon, ok? So call JB!

Your friend...(and who knows, maybe I’ll be your next home companion)...
Marcel (aka, Ducky)

When Marcel arrived, he was quite ill and so amenable that we just assumed he was tame and had been someone’s pet. Now that he is well-nourished and healthy, he’s sometimes shy and skittish, so we know that he was more wild than we thought. He didn’t know anything about toys or being held...but now he’s an expert!

Marcel likestoys; dinner; playing with his buddies Giani, Dean, and Rebel; being brushed; hearing someone say he’s such a handsome boy

He dislikesrestraint
