September 26 (Th)Pet Loss Seminar-----7 to 9pm, Montgomery Hall, Johnson County Fairgrounds (3149 Old Hwy 218 South) The bond created when people open their hearts and homes to non-human animals is a complex one, and the strength of the emotional attachment can vary quite a bit from person to person. But, when illness, death, or loss by some other means severs that bond, many people describe themselves as being trapped and isolated somewhere on the bereavement roller coaster. There is much we can do proactively, to make our inevitable parting easier.

Our speaker will be Dr. Jennifer Brandt, a licensed social worker who coordinates the Bond-Centered Education and Practice Program for The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, which among other things, recognizes, honors, and helps to enrich the bond between animals and their human caregivers.

Please bring one or two humane friends of your own. Sponsored by: Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, JCHS, Friends of the Animal Center Foundation, and Iowa City Hospice, Inc.
